Beacon believes that New Zealand homes can and should perform better – for the sake of our health, our resources and our nation. We call this being HomeSmart. Being HomeSmart is not about doing without, it’s about being smarter and doing more with less.

Addressing the whole house
We believe that a sustainable home is the sum of its parts. You can’t make a home perform well, now and in the future, without considering all aspects of its performance.
Beacon’s focus is on ‘whole of house’ sustainability - encompassing energy, water, indoor environment, waste and material/product selection.
This focus is reflected in our work on a set of performance benchmarks to achieve a sustainable home - the HSS High Standard of Sustainability®.
